NIR Sauna & Red Light Therapy – Frequently Asked Questions
What is a NIR sauna?
A near infrared (NIR) sauna uses incandescent bulbs that emit near infrared light (700–1000 nm) together with gentle heat. The light warms your body directly from inside, so you get a sauna effect and red light therapy at the same time – no pre-heated cabin needed.
What is the difference between a red light sauna and a FAR infrared sauna?
Traditional FAR infrared saunas emit mostly far infrared heat, little or no therapeutic near infrared light, and often high levels of EMF. A red light sauna (NIR panel) combines sauna heat with red light therapy at nearly zero EMF. See our full comparison of NIR, FAR and LED devices.
What are the benefits of red light therapy?
Thousands of photobiomodulation studies suggest benefits for skin health and aging, pain relief, muscle regeneration, sleep, mood, immunity and more. Learn how it works in our guide Red Light Therapy Explained.
How often should I use a NIR sauna panel?
A typical session is 20–30 minutes per body side from a distance of 40–50 cm. Most users enjoy 3–7 sessions per week. Details are in our user guide.
Is a NIR sauna safe? Does it emit EMF?
Red light therapy is considered safe. Our panel is designed for zero electrosmog – measured 0 V/m electric field and 0 mG magnetic field from 40 cm. The only known risk is touching the hot bulbs during use.
Do I need a special room for a portable NIR sauna?
No. The near infrared sauna panel is portable, weighs 8 kg and plugs into a standard EU outlet. Place it on a table, chair or floor, or hang it on a door or wall.
